Fishing and boating since a teenager, Cefus provides the narrative commentary and instruction for several segments. He holds a Coast Guard Master Captain’s license and towing endorsement. Capt. Cefus is also the producer for the series and supervises the editing process.
Exploring the waters of the Gulf coast, Brian specializes in providing his charter clients with thrilling offshore and nearshore fishing action. Brian hosts segments on selecting fish habitat, tackle & lure selection, bottom fishing & trolling.
One of the foremost striper guides in America, Mack has been hunting trophy striped bass for over 20 years. Mack has developed a complete line of rigs and jigs used by tournament anglers across the country. Capt. Mack provides valuable tips on safety, trip planning, inshore fishing and using umbrella rigs.
If there were a Top Gun school for professional anglers, Capt. Ken would be in charge of it. Ken is king of catching large fish in relatively shallow water. He hosts segments throughout the series on topics from hooks to knots to unique rigs for bottom fishing.
Steve’s expertise in light tackle and nearshore fishing spans over 20 years along Florida’s Big Bend area. He hosts segments on redfish & trout, and other inshore tactics.

Captain Leonard Lanier - Cutwater Charters, Orange Beach AL
There aren’t many fish species Leonard hasn’t tackled. Equally adept inshore or 90 miles offshore, his knowledge of fishing tactics isvast, yet he communicates it so novices can understand. Leonard also hosts segments on anchoring and marlinspike seamanship.
Capt. Gary provides in-depth instruction on bottom fishing tactics and how to find where the fish are. Gary is also shares fish cleaning tips...the easy way.
Hans brings a wealth of knowledge on power boat operations from getting underway to maneuvering and docking. Hans hosts segments on handling twin inboards.

Captain B.J. Dunson - Dunson Marine Services, Pensacola FL
Capt. Dunson is retired from the US Coast Guard and now works as a certified marine surveyor. He hosts segments on safety equipment,rendering assistance, and other topics. He also explains what to look for when buying a used boat.
Robert operates TowBoat US operations in north Georgia and has seen just about every kind of emergency and trouble situation that can occur on the water. He shares tips on what to do when problems happen, and also how to avoid some of the more common problems.

Captain Brian Cutchins - Islamorada FL
An accomplished inshore guide in the Florida Keys, Brian teaches effectively using live bait rigs and how to work the currents for snook, tarpon and more.
Coach Bagby is a nationally acclaimed rod builder. His vast knowledge of all fishing styles enable him to build rods to match any species and angler. Coach hosts segments on tackle and shares tips on playing and landing fish.
John Knight - Tennessee KnightStix Custom Rods, Murfreesboro TN
John is another well-known member of the custom rod building community. His rods have handled everything from bream to bass, and tarpon to tuna. John co-hosts several tackle segments with Coach Bagby.
While patrolling inland lakes and rivers, Roy provides a valuable service to boaters in need. As a member of the USCG-A, he conducts Courtesy Inspections and safety courses for boaters of all experience levels. Roy hosts segments on water safety, regulations and handling emergencies.
Rich helps educate boaters and anglers on the rules & regulations relating to on-the-water activities. In The Better Half of Fishing, Rich explains creel & size limits and licensing issues.
Tori Ewing - Lake Lanier GA
Tori is the newest member of the Back To The Basics Pro Team. She has enjoyed water sports and boating all her life. Tori makes learning boating skills easy in The Better Half of Boating and relates boat operations and skills from a woman’s point of view.
George manages the docks at one of the Gulf coast’s premier Sea Ray dealerships. If it can happen at a dock, George has seen it. George demonstrates a variety of docking maneuvers, fueling, channel navigation and much more.
Roland runs the service department at Treasure Island Marina and knows his way around power and propulsion. Roland covers power options, props, winterizing, engine flushing, and numerous other topics in several programs.
If it’s dirty, oxidized, rusty, or stained, Steve can make it look like new again. Steve demonstrates how to clean, detail and restore your boat’s finish; as well as providing some tips on how to maintain metalwork and fiberglass.

Rick is featured on the Pontoons & Deckboats program. He guides the new owner operator through operating, docking and maneuvering skills and delivers great information on how to select the perfect open layout boat for you.
Kim Hammond - Alpharetta GA
Kim hosts The Better Half of Boating and simplifies the in’s and out’s of boat operations for women who want to improve their on-the-water skills. Kim guides you through pre-launch checks, starting, docking and more.
Stan hosts our inboard boats show and presents the latest trends in ski and wakeboard boats. He is an avid boater and spends nearly as much time at the end of a tow rope as he does at the helm. Stan has great tips on docking and backing shaft-driven inboards.
“Capt. K” owns and operates ‘The Pressure Drop’, a 46’ custom Newton dive boat. It’s open transom is perfect for his diving charters, and also provides and excellent perch for bottom fishing for grouper, snapper, and a host of other species in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Eddie represents the true essence of big game tuna fishing.He regularly runs 70-plus miles into the oil rig fields off the Louisiana coast and targets yellowfin tuna, wahoo, swordfish and other offshore pelagics. Capt. Eddie is featured on Big Fish/Small Boats with some hard fighting yellowfins.

Capt. Chuck Simpson - Big Bend Fishing Charters, St. Marks Florida
Capt. Chuck is an inshore fishing fanatic.  He knows how to find and catch skinny water fish like redfish, trout, tarpon and cobia. Chuck's skills are well documented and his fishing reports on the message board keep everyone updated on what's going on in the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico known as the Forgotten Coast.  The Apalachee area from St. Marks to St. George Island is his stomping grounds and he provides year-round fishing excitement from his well-equipped Hewes flats boat.
