Just looked at the NOAA weather.

It's not going to be pretty tomorrow in the Gulf.    Plus, it's going to be COLD!

We'll start planning for the Spring Fling now.

Suggestions for places to get together?

My thoughts include the following options ---
Carrabelle, Apalachicola, Hilton Head, Brunswick, Steinhatchee, Charleston

With the fact that there's no telling whether or not NMFS and NOAA will ever reopen snapper/grouper season, we may as well plan on a locale that offers a great inshore fishery.   All the above have that.   And then the time of year becomes a factor too.   Early to mid-May or mid-June when school is out are options.

OR... we do freshwater and go to Lake Lanier.   Stripers and greenfish should be on the prowl in May.

No question it was the right call Captain. In addition to the cold, wind and rough waters - the combination of shrinking moon and winds directly from the north, the low tide this morning was nothing like I've ever seen here. If we would had brought the boat and parked inside the marina here at Moorings we could not have gotten it out this morning. There only remains about 12 inches of water inside the marina (at the deep spots) and numerous boats are parked on dirt.

We are fine with any of the locations you listed, but you're dead on with Lanier being a great location for May/June time frame. We are in regardless and willing to help with any arrangements that need assistance.

I'm going to go drool over the dock for a little while now and try and get the water level back up. ;D

This is a suggestion. Clarks hill in the spring is great. We can rent the cabins at Elijah Clark they are $115 per night. The cottages have 4 double beds in two bedrooms and two really comfy couches. Really nice places. We'd need to start reserving them soon though, Clarks-Hill is a very hot place to fish in the spring. Here are a couple of pics from the Hookers tourney last February.

The cottages have their own ramp or we can use one of the main ramps.
