Maya finally coached her owner up to improve his marksmanship so together we bagged her first Quail. A typical find for us this hunting season. We had completed hunting an area along a back road on the James Webb game management area and were on the walk back down the road to the truck.  Maya was running around on the other side of the road and disappeared for a few moments, when she did not show up when I blew the whistle we walked back in the brush to find her.  About 75 yards off the road she was on a very staunch point. We walked in and most of the covey flushed and I bagged the lead bird going across my face.  I was so excited at finally hitting a wild Quail we did not finish the point and several more Quail burst from the brush with all the celebration. We were on a short time span so we did not pursue more of the birds and left to move to a prime Woodcock spot.  We flushed 7 Woodcock and broke the ice on that game also bagging 1 of those crazy flying things.
Wrong sun angle for the pic but the memory is saved.  After this hunting season with my ferocious dog I am going to put her in training for Bear Hunting up where some people  fish through holes in the ice.

Fantastic!   Not too many things on this earth equal to a good dog working a covey.

Measure the fish, not with a ruler, but rather by the size of the smile on the angler's face.

Answered my own question from looking at another one of her pictures.

I have a English Pointer, Ruger. Just turned 7 months.

Looks great, Maya is a Germain Shorthair.  She was afraid of Quail when she was 7 months.
