Well, the family and I could not make the Fish N Fest to Carrabelle since work has taken control of about 110% of my life lately but we did make our annual July 4th trip into the big city.

Saturday we ventured offshore and the girls loaded the cooler with 14" and 15" black sea bass not to mention unhooking and tossing back enough pink mouth grunts to sink a good sized boat. I did not get much fishing in since the bait had to keep coming and hooks had to be removed but I did manage 1 nice red snapper for the day.

Sunday we decided it was a little rough in the big water so we set up in the East Pass and I chummed up the sharks for the kids to do battle! They wore me out within 2 hours of wrestling the hooks out of about 25 fiesty sharks. It was fun for them and expensive for me.

Monday we celebrated the 4th stationed about 18 miles offshore in another hole full of big black sea bass and another very nice red snapper. I believe the grouper are aware of the closure and have decided to go on strike until September. I did manage to tangle with a 5' bull shark for a while which was fun and my line needed stretching out due to sitting around the house FOREVER!

All in all it was a very fun yet relaxing trip that have my girls itching for more and that make daddy very happy!

Sorry we did not make the trip in June Captain - I hate it when work gets in the way of my fishing time!

You can't beat those Sea Bass on the table. I'll take em any day. Thanks Fred, for the comments on Louie's show by the way. We had a blast doing it & it's something he'll never forget.

Glad you got on the water Fred with the family.   We missed you in Carrabelle, but sometimes work gets in the way.

We'll hook up together another time.   Hopefully in the fall.

Measure the fish, not with a ruler, but rather by the size of the smile on the angler's face.

The grunts are great eating as well. The ones we are catching are 12-15" and fillet nicely.
